아이폰 16 및 아이폰 16 플러스는 Apple Inc.에서 설계, 개발 및 판매하는 스마트폰이다. 이 기기는 iPhone 15 및 iPhone 15 Plus의 뒤를 잇는 18세대 iPhone이다. 이 기기는 2024년 9월 9일 캘리포니아 쿠퍼티노의 애플 파크에서 열린 애플 이벤트에서 iPhone 16 Pro 및 16 Pro Max와 함께 공개되었다.[3] 사전 주문은 2024년 9월 13일에 시작되었다.

역사

유럽 연합의 모든 전자 장치가 USB-C 충전을 사용하도록 요구하는 무선 장비 지침은 2023년에 법으로 통과되었다. Apple은 규정을 준수할 것이라고 확인했으며, 그해 9월 iPhone 15에 라이트닝 포트 대신 USB-C 포트가 있다고 밝혔다.[4] iPhone 16도 EU 법에 따라 USB-C를 사용해야 한다. 또한 인도는 2025년 3월에 시행될 유사한 USB-C 의무를 통과시켰으며, 이는 iPhone 16에 사용되는 충전 유형에도 영향을 미친다.[5]

디자인

아이폰 16은 화이트 및 블랙 모델을 제외하고 색상이 주입된 유리 뒷면을 가진 알루미늄 디자인을 특징으로 한다. 아이폰 15와 마찬가지로, 이 기기는 둥근 모서리, 약간 구부러진 디스플레이, 그리고 후면 유리를 특징으로 한다. 아이폰 16과 아이폰 16 플러스는 아이폰 13, 아이폰 14, 아이폰 15의 대각선 레이아웃과 달리 아이폰 11 및 아이폰 12와 유사한 수직 카메라 레이아웃을 가지고 있다. 아이폰 16 및 16 플러스는 울트라마린, 틸, 핑크, 화이트, 블랙의 다섯 가지 색상으로 제공된다.[6]

하드웨어

아이폰 16과 아이폰 16 플러스는 애플 A18 시스템 온 칩을 사용한다. 이 칩은 생성형 인공지능 실행에 최적화되어 있으며, 이전 모델보다 두 배 빠른 Neural Engine을 특징으로 한다.

아이폰 16에는 아이폰 15와 동일한 4800만 화소 퓨전 카메라가 탑재되어 있으며, 2 μm, 쿼드 픽셀 PDAF, 센서 시프트 OIS, 100% 포커스 픽셀, 초고해상도 사진 (24MP 및 48MP)을 지원한다. 또한 더 넓은 조리개, 자동 초점, 1.4 μm, 100% 포커스 픽셀을 갖춘 새로운 초광각 카메라가 있다.[7]

아이폰 16 국제 모델은 나노 SIM + eSIM + eSIM을 지원하며, 미국 모델은 eSIM 전용이고 중국 모델은 eSIM을 지원하지 않는다.[8][9]

모든 아이폰 16 모델은 향상된 열 설계를 갖추고 있다. 메인 로직 보드가 업데이트되어 칩 배치가 중앙 집중화되고 주변 아키텍처가 최적화되었다. 애플은 재활용 알루미늄 하부 구조가 게임 시 최대 30% 더 높은 지속적인 성능을 위해 열을 방출한다고 주장한다.[10]

아이폰 16 라인업의 모든 모델은 와이파이 7을 지원한다.[11]

디스플레이

아이폰 16과 아이폰 16 플러스는 각각 6.1인치와 6.7인치의 화면 크기를 유지한다. 이들은 Super Retina XDR OLED 디스플레이 기술을 사용하며, 얇은 테두리로 된 풀엣지 화면 디자인을 특징으로 한다.[12][13] 아이폰 16은 2556x1179 픽셀의 해상도를 가지며, 아이폰 16 플러스는 2796x1290 픽셀의 해상도를 갖는다. 둘 다 60Hz 주사율로 작동하며, 밝기 제어를 위해 펄스 폭 변조를 사용하기 때문에 플리커 프리(flicker free)가 아니다.[14][15]

아이폰 16은 후면에 4800만 화소 퓨전 광각 렌즈와 2400만 화소 초광각 렌즈로 구성된 더욱 정교한 듀얼 렌즈 배열을 특징으로 한다.[12] 카메라는 아이폰 12 이후 처음으로 수직으로 정렬되어 있으며, 아이폰 15와 같은 대각선 정렬 대신 공간 비디오 촬영을 가능하게 한다.

또한 실시간 조명 및 색상 조정을 위한 개선된 사진 스타일 기능이 있어 특정 톤과 색상을 조작할 수 있다.[16]

액션 버튼

아이폰 16과 아이폰 16 플러스에는 아이폰 15 라인업에서 처음 선보였던 액션 버튼이 탑재된다. 사용자는 무음 모드 외에 카메라 앱을 열거나 집중 모드를 전환하는 등 다양한 기능을 수행하도록 버튼 기능을 변경할 수 있다.[17]

카메라 컨트롤 버튼

모든 아이폰 16 모델에는 새로운 카메라 컨트롤 버튼이 탑재된다. 이 버튼은 기기 오른쪽에 있으며, 사용자가 카메라 앱을 열고, 다양한 카메라 컨트롤 및 기능 사이를 전환하고, 사진 및 비디오를 촬영할 수 있도록 한다. 이 버튼은 가볍게 누르는 것과 세게 누르는 것을 구별할 수 있다. 버튼을 한 번 누르면 카메라 앱이 열린다. 가볍게 두 번 누르면 확대/축소 또는 톤과 같은 다양한 카메라 컨트롤이 있는 작은 메뉴가 열린다. 버튼을 한 번 세게 누르면 사진이 촬영되고, 몇 초 동안 누르고 있으면 비디오 촬영이 시작된다. 이 버튼은 돋보기, 코드 스캐너 또는 타사 카메라 앱과 같이 아이폰의 카메라를 사용하는 다른 앱을 열도록 사용자 지정할 수도 있다.[18]

배터리 및 충전

아이폰 16은 배터리 용량 면에서 업그레이드되었다.[19]

기본 아이폰 16은 최대 22시간의 비디오 재생 시간을 가지며, 아이폰 16 플러스는 최대 27시간의 비디오 재생 시간을 갖는다. 아이폰 16은 최대 80시간의 오디오 재생 시간을 가지며, 아이폰 16 플러스의 100시간보다 20% 적다. 맥세이프 무선 충전 표준은 더 긴 케이블을 옵션으로 제공하여 아이폰 16과 아이폰 16 플러스를 30W 전원 어댑터로 25W의 더 빠른 속도로 충전할 수 있도록 업데이트되었다.

소프트웨어

아이폰 16은 IOS 18과 함께 출시되었다. 이 기기는 애플 인텔리전스와 함께 발표되었지만, 이러한 기능은 출시 후로 연기되었다.[20]

IOS 18에는 사용자가 다른 아이폰을 사용하여 아이폰 16 시리즈 폰에 펌웨어를 무선으로 복구하고 복원할 수 있는 복구 도구가 포함되어 있다.[21]

iOS 18.4 출시 전에 애플은 카메라 컨트롤 버튼을 길게 눌러 시각 지능을 여는 기능 외에도, 액션 버튼 또는 잠금 화면을 사용자 지정하거나 아이폰 16 또는 아이폰 16 플러스의 제어 센터를 열어 시각 지능을 열 수 있는 기능을 추가했다.

모든 아이폰 16 모델은 2025년 9월에 출시된 iOS 26을 지원한다.

아이폰 16의 시작 가격은 US$799이며, 아이폰 16 플러스는 US$899부터 시작한다. 선주문은 2024년 9월 13일에 시작되었고, 판매는 9월 20일에 시작되었다.[22]

인도네시아 판매 금지

2024년 10월 20일, 인도네시아 산업부는 애플이 인도네시아에 대한 투자 약속을 이행하지 않았고, 인증을 위한 40%의 현지 콘텐츠 요구 사항을 충족하지 못했다는 이유로 아이폰 16 모델의 인도네시아 내 판매 및 사용에 대한 공식 금지를 발표했다.[23] 애플은 이후 금지 해제를 대가로 1억 달러 투자를 제안했지만, 산업부는 이를 "공정성의 원칙을 충족하지 못했다"고 거절하며[24] 더 큰 금액을 요구했고,[25] 이후 최소 10억 달러에 달하는 금액을 요구했다.[26]

추가 협상 끝에, 제조, 연구 및 개발 시설 건설 계획을 포함하여, 산업부는 2025년 2월 26일에 금지 조치를 해제했으며, 애플은 이제 4월 11일부터 인도네시아에서 아이폰 16 모델을 판매하기 위한 현지 콘텐츠 인증을 받는 과정에 있다.[27][28]

평가

아이폰 16은 여러 측면에서 긍정적인 평가를 받았지만, 몇 가지 한계점도 보여준다. 업그레이드된 디자인은 과거 모델보다 더 역동적인 느낌을 주는 생생한 색상 옵션으로 새로운 미학을 선사하며 호평을 받고 있다. 디스플레이는 애플의 Super Retina HDR 품질을 유지하지만, 60Hz 주사율로 제한되어 일부 사용자들은 더 저렴한 경쟁사 휴대폰의 더 빠른 디스플레이에 비해 구식이라고 느낀다.[29][30] 아이폰 16 플러스는 아이폰 16 프로 맥스보다 30g 가볍고 배터리 수명이 길며, 프로 맥스와 유사한 화면 크기를 가지고 있어 찬사를 받았다.[31] "기본형 아이폰은 종종 프로 모델에 비해 눈에 띄게 다운그레이드된 느낌을 주었지만, 올해는 그렇지 않다"며, 아이폰 16과 16 플러스가 16 프로와 16 프로 맥스를 다소 불필요하게 만들 만큼 충분한 기능을 갖추고 있다.[29][30]
