아이워구(언어 오류(na): Aiwo), 또는 아이우에구(언어 오류(na): Aiue)는 나우루의 구이다. 아이워 선거구에 속한다. 과거에는 양고르(Yangor)라는 이름으로 알려져 있었다.

지리

아이워구는 섬 서부에 위치하며, 면적은 1.1km2이고 인구는 1,258명이다.[1] 나우루의 비공식적인 수도라고 불리기도 하지만, 나우루에는 공식적인 수도가 없으며 야렌이 수도로 언급되는 경우가 더 많다.

지역 특징

나우루 산업의 대부분이 아이워에 위치한다. 아이워의 시설물은 다음과 같다.

아이워구는 나우루 의회에 2명의 의원을 보낸다.

이 섬에 있는 두 개의 외교 공관, 즉 오스트레일리아 고등판무관 사무소와 중화민국 대사관이 아이워 구에 있다.[2][3]

교육

나우루 전역을 관할하는 초등 및 중등 학교는 야렌구의 야렌 초등학교(1~3학년), 메넹구의 나우루 초등학교(4~6학년), 데니고모두구의 나우루 컬리지(7~9학년), 나우루 중등학교(10~12학년)이다.[4]

아이워 초등학교는 이전에 아이워에서 운영되었다.[5] 2002년 4월 기준으로 나우루 전역의 3, 4학년 학생들을 가르쳤다.[6]

사우스퍼시픽 대학교 나우루 캠퍼스는 이전에 아이워 구에 위치했었으나,[7] 2018년에 야렌 구로 이전했다.[8]

유명 인물

나우루 의회의 초대 의장인 이투브와 암람 목사는 아이워구 의원으로 재직했다. 암람에 이어 킨자 클로두마르가 아이워구 의원으로 재직했다.[9] 여러 차례 나우루의 대통령을 지낸 르네 해리스는 오랫동안 의회에서 아이워구 의원이었다.
